Key Responsibilities- IEP Management: Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students, ensuring that their unique needs are met and their progress is tracked.
- Instruction Delivery: Provide instruction that aligns with IEP goals and objectives, using a variety of teaching methods to engage students and promote learning.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure inclusive educational settings and provide a supportive environment for students.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress and modify instructional methods as needed to ensure that students are meeting their IEP goals.
- Use of Resources: Implement assistive technology and specialized materials to support student learning and promote independence.
- Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and confidential records of student progress and participation, ensuring that all necessary documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Meetings & Development: Attend IEP meetings, team meetings, and engage in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and improve teaching skills.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification: Must have or be eligible for Special Education Teacher certification in North Carolina.
- Experience: Experience in special education is preferred, but not required.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of local and state special education regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
