Special Education Specialist

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Intervention Specialist at Central Point Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the educational and behavioral goals of all students with a focus on those with an Individualized Education Program.
About the Opportunity
The Intervention Specialist will work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curricular as necessary, and assisting the student with regular class assignments. Other responsibilities include conducting diagnostic assessments for instruction, conducting functional behavior assessments, writing and implementing behavior improvement plans, facilitating IEP Meetings and writing IEP goals and objectives, and utilizing research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
About You
We are seeking a current state license holder with knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards. Experience working in a full room inclusion type model or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model is also required. A high level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring is essential. Additionally, high quality written and verbal communication skills, high proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook, excellent organization and time management skills, ability to work independently and contribute to a team, and ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI) are required. Experience working in a multi-cultural setting is preferred.
