Job Summary:


The Certified Medical Assistant Lead will play a vital role in supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare team. This individual will be responsible for preparing patients and treatment rooms, accurate data entry for patient registration, and insurance verification. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, use good judgment, and maintain quality control standards (HIPAA/OSHA).



Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and motivate the medical assistant team to meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies.
  • Monitor quality control standards, including immunization logs, waived testing, drug sample logs, and equipment sterilization logs.
  • Resolve less complicated patient, staff, and physician issues, and report any associate non-compliance with approved policies to the manager.
  • Provide staff training and onboard checklists, and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, and utilize knowledge of sterile technique and infection control procedures to clean and disinfect rooms and equipment.
  • Assist providers in preparing for minor surgeries or physicals, and assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and referrals.
  • Maintain patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner, following policy and procedures regarding documentation.
  • Comply and condense technical and statistical data for reports and records, and attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations, and use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner.
  • Follow established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control, and maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).


Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the state of employment required.
  • BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) required.
