Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Renovation and Restoration Technician to join our team at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing renovation and restoration tasks to maintain the aesthetic components of our facilities' interior and exterior.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform renovation and restoration tasks, including modifying and installing drywall, doors, windows, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Inspect and repair fire-rated walls and doors, and install intumescent materials and fire stop systems.
  • Update building drawings as necessary and respond to emergency situations.
  • Assist other trades as needed and adhere to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Clean and maintain work areas and equipment, and participate in professional development activities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in general construction, carpentry, fire-stopping, or painting.
  • Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card.
  • Demonstrated competence in two of the following technical specialties: rough carpentry, finishing, fire-stopping, or flooring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates or technical degree in a skilled trades or maintenance-related field.
  • Valid fire-stopping card.
  • Basic understanding of university building design standards related to the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
Working Conditions

This position may require working in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods. May work in cramped spaces and must be able to push and pull 70 pounds and distinguish colors.
