The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout their life stages. This role involves various aspects of the nursing process, including gathering patient data, executing care plans as instructed, and monitoring, reporting, and documenting the outcomes of care. The LPN's responsibilities are performed in accordance with state regulations, professional standards, hospital policies, and the overarching mission and philosophy of nursing at our facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database for each patient under your care.
  • Monitor and report both general and specific changes in patients' physical and mental health conditions.
  • Implement and document patient care interventions, ensuring alignment with care plans and established protocols.
  • Administer medications to patients within the defined scope of practice.
  • Serve as a role model and resource for colleagues, providing guidance and support.
  • Engage in personal professional development through participation in training and continuing education.
  • Contribute to identifying unit needs and support departmental goals and objectives.
  • May perform IV therapy in compliance with state regulations.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for up to 2 hours daily; stand for up to 8 hours; and walk for 6 hours, with specific time intervals. Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and transporting patients as needed. Frequent bending, reaching, and other physical activities are required. Must possess adequate sensory perception for effective patient care.

EDUCATION:

Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) course is required. One year of nursing experience is preferred, along with a tailored orientation program.

Basic computer proficiency is preferred.
