We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Porter to join our Housekeeping team at SMS Holdings. As a Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our commercial premises.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim to maintain a high level of aesthetic appeal.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Sweep, scrub, finish, and polish floors to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies to maintain a clean and organized appearance.
- Dust furniture and equipment to prevent dust buildup and maintain a clean environment.
- Polish metalwork to maintain a high level of shine and cleanliness.
- Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork to maintain a clean and organized appearance.
- Wash windows, door panels, and sills to maintain a clean and clear view.
- Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays to maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Transport trash and waste to disposal areas to maintain a clean and organized environment.
As a Porter, you will be working in a fast-paced commercial environment. You will be exposed to work in high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands of this role include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and talking or hearing. You will frequently be required to climb or balance and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. You will also need to have the ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. You will not need any prior experience or training, but you will need to be able to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. You will also need to be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. You will not need any computer skills, but you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced commercial environment and maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
