RN - Medical Surgical Progressive Care Specialist (KSMC / 36 Hr / Days)

As a skilled Registered Nurse, you will utilize your clinical judgment to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems in our Medical Surgical Progressive Care unit. Collaborating with the healthcare team, you will assess, plan, direct, provide, and evaluate nursing care for patients, ensuring seamless coordination with other disciplines.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assessment:
- Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs.
- Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
- Conduct a complete discharge assessment.
Planning:
- Develop an individualized nursing plan of care, sensitive to the patient's developmental needs.
- Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies.
- Develop a patient teaching plan and document it on the care plan or teaching plan.
- Delegate patient care activities appropriately based on the patient's condition and the scope of practice of other healthcare providers.
- Establish priorities for patient care and classify the acuity level of assigned patients.
Implementation:
- Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients.
- Bases nursing care on protocol in place for management of each patient.
- Correctly carry out the physician's plan of care.
- Accurately document in the EMR.
- Document care according to policy and procedure.
- Utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate.
- Perform all necessary procedures correctly.
- Utilize available teaching plans in addressing patient teaching needs.
- Accurately calculate and administer medications.
- Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.
Evaluation:
- Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment.
- Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
