Position Overview:

This role entails the planning, execution, and coordination of diagnostic assessments and therapeutic services for Veterans experiencing hearing loss and auditory disorders.

The audiologist is responsible for evaluating the necessity for hearing aids, assessing their effectiveness, and conducting cochlear implant evaluations as well as vestibular assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations and manage a full spectrum of audiology services, including hearing assessments, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implant management, and vestibular testing.
  • Perform independent diagnostic evaluations for complex cases referred to the Audiology Section.
  • Engage with patients and their families to gather relevant history and interpret diagnostic test results to identify hearing disorders.
  • Assess patient conditions through examination, observation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Utilize contemporary diagnostic and evaluative techniques to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Document all evaluation and treatment processes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure clinical safety and operational efficiency by maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Act as a consultant for challenging cases and serve as a subject matter expert in audiology.
  • Participate in staff meetings, policy reviews, and training sessions.
  • Engage in research activities relevant to the field of audiology.
Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. This position does not allow for telework or virtual work.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Compliance with health regulations, including vaccination programs, is necessary.
Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Doctor of Audiology (AUD) degree from an accredited program or a related doctoral degree in hearing science. A full, unrestricted license to practice audiology in the U.S. is also required.

For those in the process of obtaining licensure, temporary appointments may be available under specific conditions.

This position is part of the Excepted Service and is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan repayment assistance.
