Role Summary
The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing production processes across multiple departments, including the machine shop, winding sub-assemblies, and overall facility management. This role entails ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned sections while fostering a collaborative team environment through effective communication. The supervisor is responsible for developing employees to reach their maximum potential and coordinating activities to meet scheduled compliance and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing and assigning tasks to optimize manpower and facility usage.
- Ensuring quality standards are met in accordance with AS9100 manufacturing guidelines and managing corrective actions.
- Identifying and rectifying safety or health hazards that could impact employees or productivity.
- Executing production plans and collaborating with other work centers to achieve overall business success.
- Promoting good housekeeping practices within the team.
- Conducting interviews, hiring, training, and evaluating manufacturing staff; enforcing company policies and regulations.
- Coaching and mentoring employees to enhance their effectiveness.
- Assisting upper management with budgeting and performance metrics.
- Addressing employee concerns and maintaining positive relations.
- Collaborating with manufacturing engineering and other departments to improve productivity through optimized methods and processes.
- Staying updated on operational techniques and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of job descriptions for supervised areas; recommending necessary adjustments.
- Ensuring compliance with shelf-life requirements for age-sensitive materials in manufacturing.
- Overseeing calibration compliance for manufacturing test and measurement tools.
- Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of all operational areas.
- Developing and executing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Managing the maintenance of equipment, tools, and supplies; staying informed on new developments and recommending acquisitions or replacements.
- Assessing departmental needs and ensuring alignment with key objectives.
- Exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills while upholding high moral and ethical standards.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives within the department through the identification and execution of productivity projects.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience, with a minimum of seven years in a related role.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires regular standing, use of hands and fingers for handling objects, tools, or controls. Frequent walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as well as reaching with hands and arms, climbing, or balancing may be necessary.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is required.
