Position Overview:
Tact Staff is in search of a travel nurse RN specializing in Medical Surgical for an exciting opportunity.

Shift Details:
12-hour shifts
Employment Type:
Travel
Schedule:
Nights - 7 PM to 7 AM

Weekend Requirements:
Every Other Weekend

Role Expectations:
The travel nurse will be expected to demonstrate flexibility, potentially floating to various units within the hospital's scope of practice. The role involves applying nursing principles and adhering to the policies and procedures of the Patient Care Services Department and the Medical Center. As a registered nurse (RN), you will oversee the management of nursing care, ensuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission through discharge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to medical and environmental emergencies.
Deliver proficient, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care in alignment with unit, department, and hospital policies, as well as established nursing standards:
  • Plan and coordinate care delivery to maximize efficiency while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Set priorities for patient care in both routine and complex situations.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing and medical staff to promote a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Coordinate the involvement of patients, physicians, families, and other health team members to optimize patient care and resource management.

Clinical Judgment:
Utilize clinical judgment and critical thinking throughout the nursing process and unit activities, developing innovative solutions to challenges:
  • Administer treatments and medications promptly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patient care status through clinical rounds.

Patient Assessment:
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families, considering various factors including biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs:
  • Complete nursing assessments within 24 hours of admission.
  • Ensure individualized care plans are developed to meet all patient needs.
  • Monitor patients at risk for adverse events and implement preventive measures.

Care Plan Development:
Collaborate with patients, families, and other disciplines to create and modify the patient's plan of care:
  • Develop and implement care plans based on comprehensive assessments.
  • Document and communicate patient assessments, care plans, and outcomes effectively.

Evaluation:
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan through observation and communication with all involved parties:
  • Adjust care plans as necessary and initiate follow-up activities.
