Lead Forensic Architect

Position Overview:
The Forensic Architecture division at The Vertex Companies, LLC offers specialized consulting services for a diverse array of claims, including investigations into building envelope failures, assessments of architectural standards, premises liability evaluations, and compliance with building codes. Our Forensic Architects engage in both fieldwork and office-based tasks, collaborating closely with structural engineers to deliver solutions that address our clients' challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform forensic inspections to determine the causes and origins of incidents related to property damage claims, both residential and commercial, as well as construction or design defects.
- Examine adherence to building regulations and scrutinize construction documents and project plans.
- Create comprehensive investigative reports detailing findings and remediation strategies for review by senior management and presentation to clients.
- Formulate detailed remediation plans and cost estimates, including scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Engage in business development initiatives and maintain regular communication with current and potential clients within the region.
- Provide support to other departments as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Services.
- Registered Architect (RA) in California.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the design, inspection, and construction of residential and commercial buildings, with prior experience in forensics required.
- In-depth knowledge of residential (IRC), commercial (IBC), and existing (IEBC) I-codes.
- Proficient in office software applications (MS Office: Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience in property damage investigations and support for litigation processes, such as depositions or mediation, is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, particularly in technical writing.
- Physical capability to operate a 24-foot extension ladder independently, navigate elevated and sloped surfaces, and work in confined spaces.
- Willingness to travel to client locations as required; a valid driver's license is necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this position is between $150,000 and $180,000 annually. The Vertex Companies, LLC provides a comprehensive compensation package that includes a base salary and discretionary bonuses. Additionally, we offer an extensive benefits package, including healthcare options, dental coverage, company-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, a 401k plan with immediate matching, and a flexible spending account.
