As a Certified Nursing Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist residents with their personal care requirements, ensuring they maintain optimal hygiene, engage in daily activities, and uphold their health while actively participating in community events.

Your contributions as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will significantly influence the quality of life for our residents by:

  • Providing essential support and guidance to residents in areas such as grooming, hygiene, dressing, and nutrition.

Responding to resident needs through signal lights, bells, or intercom systems with a proactive mindset. You will also be responsible for monitoring vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, as well as tracking food and fluid intake and output as instructed. Duties will include transporting residents, assisting with mobility, repositioning them as necessary, and performing various tasks such as changing bed linens, running errands, directing visitors, and answering phone calls.

In addition, you will assist with laundry and housekeeping responsibilities, support residents during meal times, and encourage their participation in community activities. It is essential to listen to residents' concerns and report any observations to the care team promptly.

Your role will promote the physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident, with the ultimate aim of helping them achieve their highest level of self-care and independence whenever possible.

Understanding and respecting residents' Advance Directives is crucial, as is ensuring effective communication between community staff and residents' families regarding their care and overall wellbeing.

Collaboration with colleagues and following management directives while also demonstrating initiative in conflict resolution among residents, families, and staff will be vital to your success in this role.

The physical demands of this position include the ability to stand, move, communicate, and comprehend written information. Occasionally, you may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds independently, or up to 200 pounds with assistance.

To qualify for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Completion of an accredited CNA program is preferred, along with at least one year of experience in a similar role. CPR or BLS certification is also preferred.

Proficiency in using Internet browsers (e.g., Explorer, Chrome, Firefox), Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Publisher), electronic health records (EHR) systems, and any relevant HR systems is essential.

Dependability and the ability to meet scheduling requirements without restrictions are crucial. A solid understanding of laws and regulations related to senior living care, as well as the opportunities and limitations of various care levels within senior living, is necessary.
