Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean, dust, disinfect, and sanitize all areas of the hospital, including floors, restrooms, and patient rooms.
  • Operate floor maintenance equipment, such as strippers, buffers, vacuums, and extractors, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Request and restock supplies as needed to ensure a well-stocked inventory.
  • Assist in conducting inspections of buildings and equipment for cleanliness and needed repairs.
  • Perform minor building and equipment repairs and installations as needed.
  • Maintain assigned custodial equipment in good working order.
  • Clear trash and debris from outside areas around the hospital.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards, and sanitation regulations.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Skills in the use of custodial equipment, materials, and the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Ability to stay on task and complete work timely.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels and exposure to cleaning chemicals. The successful candidate must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
