Position Overview:

As a Senior Airworthiness Engineer, you will serve as a key authority on FAA Airworthiness operations, guiding and mentoring fellow Airworthiness Specialists. Your role will encompass the execution of FAA Airworthiness Designee responsibilities, ensuring the Airworthiness Approval of Parts, Assemblies, Installations, and the Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the corporate airworthiness division in developing enhanced compliance procedures.
  • Provide support to Business Areas as necessary.
  • Facilitate the STC process effectively.
  • Conduct audits within the airworthiness department as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with typically 10 or more years of pertinent experience. A higher-level degree may substitute for experience, and related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
  • Current FAA Airworthiness Designee with function codes for Airworthiness Approval of Parts, Assemblies, Installations, and Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft, or eligible to obtain those function codes.
  • Possession of a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate and FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Proven experience with quality control methodologies and techniques, demonstrating the ability to ascertain that articles conform to approved designs and are safe for operation.
  • Proficient in interpreting various types of drawings, specifications, measuring instruments, and inspection methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FAA regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Work history must be devoid of FAA enforcement actions against personal certificates or any organizational approvals for which you held a managerial position.
  • Ability to inspect both personal work and that of other designees.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate and FAA Inspection Authorization (IA), or the ability to obtain one.
  • Capability to effectively balance all requirements (Company, Customer, and Compliance) through proactive measures rather than compromise.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Critical thinking skills with the capacity to apply Efficient Compliance in practical scenarios.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense sector, including experience with the US Department of Defense or US Military.

Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated starting salary range: $104,000 - $144,000. SNC considers various factors when extending job offers, including candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. We offer annual incentive pay based on performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, a 401(k) with a 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, and three weeks of paid time off.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required for this role.
