Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County is seeking a full-time SNAP-Ed Nutritionist I to work 40 hours per week. This role is based in the Batavia, NY office.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Nutritionist will focus on delivering established public education initiatives aimed at enhancing healthy food choices and lifestyle habits among families and individuals across various age groups within the Northwestern SNAP Region, particularly in Genesee County. Additionally, this position will support marketing efforts for SNAP programming in collaboration with fellow nutritionists in the region.

Position Overview:

  • Employment Type: 1.0 FTE grant-funded position.
  • Funding Source: The SNAP program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and managed by the Office of Temporary Disability and Assistance (OTDA).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community and Behavioral Health, Health Education, Public Health, or Nursing.
  • Associates degree with 2 years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel as needed and meet background check standards.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other technology for virtual education.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and food preparation.
  • Experience in presenting educational content to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Delivery (75%): Implement and teach established SNAP educational programs to targeted adult and youth participants. Conduct outreach through workshops, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Program Evaluation (5%): Gather and analyze feedback from participants and stakeholders to improve program offerings.
  • Administrative Support (20%): Assist in planning, budgeting, and coordinating SNAP program activities. Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.

Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the position.

Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
