We are seeking a highly skilled Project Architect/Planner to join our team at the Brooklyn Museum. As a key member of our capital projects team, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and construction of our building-wide renovation and modernization projects.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the design and execution of planning and construction projects, including programming, conceptual studies, presentations, and renderings.
- Provide support during the study, analysis, programming, design, presentation, staging, and construction of capital projects.
- Assist in the management of drawing archives and electronic files used for facilities management/planning.
- Participate in a variety of research and design projects.
- Coordinate activity of other departments involved in capital projects.
- Support Operations and Logistics by providing drawings, building data, and previous project documentation.
- Take responsibility for the safety and protection of all related Museum buildings, collections, personnel, museum visitors, and equipment.
- Professional degree in Architecture required. Graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' professional experience with all project phases, including programming, conceptual design, coordination between trades, documentation, and construction administration.
- Familiarity with art exhibition spaces, workplaces, public circulation, amenities, storage, and exterior envelope.
- Familiarity with historic buildings.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills, ability to assist with building consensus among multiple constituencies, design skills, team work, personal drive, and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- Demonstrates commitment to collaborative achievement with in-house and external teams.
- Experience with construction documents, sustainable building practices, existing conditions surveys, presentation preparation, graphic design, and renderings.
- Knowledge of planning, design, and construction processes.
- Intermediate to Advanced Computer skills with Autodesk, Microsoft Office, and Adobe software.
