Outpatient Intake Specialist

Salary: $22.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This role is essential in managing the initial intake process for clients entering our outpatient substance abuse treatment program. The Intake Coordinator will conduct interviews with prospective clients and their families to evaluate their psychosocial requirements for appropriate care placement. Responsibilities include:
- Completing intake documentation within our electronic medical record system.
- Verifying insurance coverage and securing necessary authorizations.
- Administering drug screenings for new clients.
- Collaborating with the treatment team to ensure client welfare and program integrity.
- Providing supervision to clients and support to staff as needed.
- Assisting with general administrative tasks to support center operations.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Active enrollment in a state-recognized chemical dependency counselor certification program, such as Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) with CCAPP, is required.
- At least six months of experience in substance abuse or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- A valid California driver's license is necessary and must remain current throughout employment.
- Familiarity with the 12-step recovery model, substance dependency, and mental health issues is highly desirable.
- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within the first week of employment and maintained thereafter.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including word processing and internet navigation, is essential.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are crucial for effective client intake and record-keeping.
- Critical thinking abilities and experience in crisis management are vital, including the capacity to identify crises and seek additional support when necessary.
- Commitment to advocating for individuals from diverse backgrounds is required.
