As a Surgical Technologist at Ascension Michigan, you will play a vital role in providing patient care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Your responsibilities will include assisting the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the surgical team to provide patient care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrate increasing knowledge of physical and technical requirements of surgical intervention.
- Act as a resource person regarding instrumentation requirements, availability, and setup.
- Assist circulator and take initiative to ensure availability of necessary equipment.
- Participate in monitoring and maintaining resources in specific department.
- Understand and contribute to the vision/mission and goals of the department.
- Work in a secure department with access to areas where medications are stored.
- Handle and label medications on the sterile field under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 month of hire date.
- Certified Surgical Technologist credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date preferred.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technologist program prior to hire date or job transfer date preferred.
- Two (2) years of current surgical technologist experience required.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience preferred.
