Job Summary

Hillcrest Children and Family Center is seeking a highly skilled and licensed mental health professional to join our school-based program as a School-Based Mental Health Therapist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with Educational Team: Work closely with teachers, principals, school counselors, and other professionals to identify and address mental health and behavioral barriers to learning.
  • Diagnostic Assessments: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments to determine DSM-5 diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
  • Therapy Services: Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions in school and home settings to support students' mental health and well-being.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain regular contact with families to update them on clients' progress and involve them in the treatment process.
  • Crisis Management: Apply crisis management skills as needed to ensure students' safety and well-being.
  • Professional Development: Participate in workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as stress management, suicide prevention, and substance abuse.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records, complete treatment and crisis plans, and submit regular reports to the Manager/Program Director.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field, and licensure in the District of Columbia.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient communication in English required; Spanish or another language preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Windows and Word, and familiarity with patient confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulation.
