Pediatric Nurse Job Description

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a skilled Pediatric Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to children and adolescents in our pediatric department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use the nursing process to provide safe, quality patient care and document accordingly.
  • Work to ensure compliance with all NMHS policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator.
Education and Training:
  • Provide patient/family education and act as a resource for existing staff and new employees.
  • Participate in the Preceptor class to ensure proper training of new employees.
Communication and Teamwork:
  • Maintain communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care to the patient.
  • Attend daily huddles on each unit to ensure proper assignments and identify team members for the shift.
Customer Relations:
  • Project a caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
  • Utilize the patient's communication board (white board) to identify name, date, goals, other staff, and procedures or tests for the day to keep patients and families informed.
  • Comply with NMHS behavioral standards.
Self-Development:
  • Maintain competency by staying informed of changing trends in nursing practice.
  • Attend annual review and unit specifics within the department.
  • Perform required continuing education hours online and in the classroom.
Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Comply with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
  • Be licensed by the board of Nursing for the state.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse
  • State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure

Must be licensed to practice as a RN in the state of MS
