Geologist III

The Geologist III will provide technical oversight and support to state and federal agencies, local governments, and the general public in the development, interpretation, and implementation of environmental protection regulations and policies. This role will involve conducting complex geological reviews of solid and special waste landfill applications, coordinating and assisting in the compilation of computer-generated geological site-specific environmental permits, and conducting field investigations of solid and special waste facilities regulated by DWM.

• Conduct complex geological reviews of solid and special waste landfill applications to determine compliance with regulations and statutes.
• Coordinate and assist in the compilation of computer-generated geological site-specific environmental permits.
• Conduct field investigations of solid and special waste facilities regulated by DWM.
• Provide technical assistance to other department staff, owners and operators, public, consultants, and other governmental agencies.

• Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in geology, earth system science, earth and environmental sciences, or related field.
• Three years of geological experience.
• Registration by the Board of Registration for Professional Geologists (KRS Chapter 322A) will substitute for the required education.
