Position Overview:
A prominent healthcare facility is in search of a skilled hematologist/oncologist to provide locum tenens support. This role is essential due to a surge in patient demand.

Practice Details:
This position primarily involves outpatient care with some inpatient consults and follow-ups. The physician will be responsible for managing a patient load of approximately 15-20 individuals daily, which includes follow-ups and new patients in both oncology and hematology.

Commitment:
The role requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week, along with minimal on-call responsibilities every third week.

Support Team:
The practice is well-supported by a dedicated team comprising two MDs, RNs, and one Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Additional resources include a Nurse Manager, certified pharmacists, a tumor board program, and an infusion clinic to enhance patient care.

Credentialing:
Credentialing will take approximately 60 days. While board certification is preferred, it is not mandatory. An active medical license in Connecticut is also preferred, but candidates in need of licensure may still be considered.

Work Schedule:
The call ratio is 1:3 for weeknights and weekends, with very light rounding on weekends.

Patient Load:
The expected patient volume is around 12-15 patients per day.

Shift Type:
This is a day shift position.

Assignment Type:
The role is classified as outpatient and clinic-based.

Consultation Details:
There will be 0-3 new consults per day.

Treatment Focus:
The practice encompasses general hematology and oncology.

Call Requirements:
Participation in call duties is required.

Board Certification:
Board certification is required for this position.

Prescriptive Authority:
Prescriptive authority is necessary for this role.

Patient Demographics:
The patient population primarily consists of adults.

Support Staff:
The practice is supported by two hematology/oncology specialists, RNs, and one APP.

Government Involvement:
This position does not involve government contracts.
