Accounting Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at Hormel Foods Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering various manufacturing departments in completing accounting production practices, as well as providing analytical support in meeting plant and company initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Account for all inventory and production transactions which occur in the assigned departments.
- Reconcile inventories in QAD compared to the physical inventory quantities from the AS400 data collection system and as reported by management.
- Work at a fast pace, handling multiple departments and their associated accounting activities simultaneously.
- Proactively seek information from operations management, shipping, and other functional groups to perform daily tasks.
- Complete weekly reporting and reconciliations for management to evaluate and drive actions/results.
- Print, record, and distribute invoices, manifest, and bill of lading.
- Prepare paperwork for next day's shipments.
Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven success working in a team environment.
- Strong verbal communication and time management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with a PC, Windows, and MS Excel, with ability to learn other computer applications.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated use of strong organization skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Flexible, reliable, and accountable to work in multiple workstations, spending approximately 60% of your time at Osceola Foods and 40% of your time at DHL Warehouse.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of accounting experience.
- Experience with QAD, AS/400 Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC), Oracle Financial, and Mainframe systems.
