Shift: 12-Hour Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM with weekend flexibility
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 1 year
License: Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC (NIHSS preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a Level IV trauma center that is not a certified STEMI receiving center but is acute stroke ready.
- Manage a unit with 7 beds, including 2 trauma bays, and 1 mental health room.
- Handle an average patient volume of 32-48 per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:3-4, depending on acuity.
- Stabilize and manage common emergency room diagnoses such as trauma, stroke (stabilize and transfer), and chest pain.
- Work alongside an emergency room board-certified doctor with Level I trauma experience available on every shift.
- Collaborate with mid-level staff present 3-4 days a week.
- No charge nurse; the house supervisor oversees the entire hospital but is not part of the staffing/patient grid.
- Utilize 'RT Now' for remote respiratory therapy consults after hours.
- Expect to work every third weekend and holiday.
- Rarely float to respond to emergencies in other hospital areas.
- Wear navy blue scrubs following the dress code.
- Use Epic as the charting system.
- Undergo 2-3 shifts of department-specific orientation.
- No call or standby requirements.
