In addition to these benefits, we are offering a $3,500 Sign On Bonus for Speech Language Pathologists who join our team.

About the Role:

The purpose of the Speech Language Pathologist position is to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to evaluate, treat, document, and facilitate care for residents with impaired communication or swallowing abilities due to disease process. This role requires participation in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaboration with the Director of Nursing to develop communication and swallowing decline prevention policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate resident's functional needs when referred by the attending physician or interdisciplinary team
  2. Follow physician's orders, facility policies, and procedures to evaluate and treat residents and complete required documentation for care provided
  3. Assist the DON in establishing communication and/or swallowing decline prevention policies and procedures
  4. Participate in discharge planning when appropriate
  5. Perform diagnostic tests, evaluate, and document evaluations of referred residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures
  6. Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of communication and/or swallowing function possible within the confines of their physical abilities
  7. Recommend and/or provide appropriate treatment, preventative measures, and assistive devices to prevent decline in resident's function
  8. Provide appropriate resident or caregiver education to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of communication and/or swallowing function possible within the confines of their physical abilities
  9. Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and third-party payers
  10. Perform all duties as assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner
Requirements:
  • A current license as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of practice
  • Possess a certificate of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech and Hearing Association, or have equivalent educational requirements and awaiting certification, or be in the process of accumulating supervised work experience for certification
  • Solid computer skills, with prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred
