Monitors and manages student behavior across various settings including classrooms, outdoor areas, field trips, dining areas, libraries, and transportation; fosters a classroom environment that prioritizes the emotional and physical safety of students while promoting respect, self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and accountability.
Tailors instructional methods to accommodate the diverse needs of each student; organizes and presents classroom materials and space effectively to support curricular activities; employs classroom management strategies to maintain order and ensure a safe, productive learning atmosphere.
Utilizes positive reinforcement techniques to enhance desired behaviors and educational results; designs lessons aimed at achieving specific goals based on student needs and established curriculum standards.
Implements instructional strategies that inspire and engage students.
Assesses written work including assignments and tests; reviews and evaluates student progress and curriculum effectiveness; monitors student performance to identify and address learning needs; keeps parents informed about evaluation methods and student progress; advises parents on instructional strategies that may support their child; shares information about school activities; collaborates with an instructional team to promote learning initiatives consistent with District and school objectives; alerts administration to the unique needs of students exhibiting atypical characteristics; works with specialists to support student learning; may oversee the activities of teaching assistants and classroom volunteers; manages the procurement of classroom supplies and instructional resources; performs additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Familiarity with State and Federal educational standards.
Understanding of developmental stages of school-aged children.
Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
Proficiency in various teaching methodologies.
Competence in classroom management techniques.
Ability to apply common sense to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
Skill in interpreting documents such as rules, instructions, and procedural manuals.
Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
Proficiency in effective written and verbal communication.
Capability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
Basic proficiency in mathematical computations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Work is conducted in an indoor setting. It requires frequent sitting, repetitive motions, visual monitoring, and may involve some lifting.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related discipline.
Valid Arizona Secondary 6-12 Teaching Certificate in the relevant subject area.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and State certification requirements will be considered.
