Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team at South Middlesex Opportunites. As a key member of our Outpatient Substance Use Services, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey.

Job Description

This is a hybrid position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Your primary responsibilities will include providing non-clinical, peer-based support to individuals referred or self-referred for substance use recovery services. This may involve creating and maintaining accurate individual files and records, establishing recovery plans, engaging recoverees through understanding and addressing their needs, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

You will also be responsible for attending team meetings, stakeholders' meetings as requested, communicating effectively with staff and recoverees, driving recoverees to recovery activities if required, ensuring compliance with program and agency requirements, collaborating with staff, providing related information and referrals to community-based resources, acquiring authorizations and pre-authorizations for Recovery Coach services, maintaining up-to-date wellness plans, filling out BSAS forms, and entering into the virtual gateway.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Must have lived experience with substance use and be in recovery.
  • Completed or willing to complete the Recovery Coach Academy Training.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – bilingual is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid MA driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet insurance standards.
Working Conditions and Salary

This position may be located in a residence which may not be handicapped accessible. Some travel with recoverees is required. A successful background check is mandatory. We offer a competitive salary of $$$45,000 - $55,000 per annum based on experience and qualifications. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
