Position Overview:

The University of Alaska is inviting applications for the role of Academic Specialist within the School of Nursing. This position is pivotal in collaborating with the leadership and faculty to cultivate a proficient and culturally aware nursing workforce aimed at enhancing healthcare quality in Native communities.


Key Responsibilities:
The Academic Specialist will:

  • Engage with nursing leadership to foster academic excellence.
  • Develop and implement strategies for clinical learning environments across various models, including hospital-based and community-based settings.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships within nursing communities throughout Alaska.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written communication skills and proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a leadership capacity within healthcare or academic settings is highly desirable.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in health, education, or a business-related field, along with two years of relevant experience in office administration and leadership, preferably in an academic context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred.


Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
