We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Certified Veterinary Technician to join our emergency team at Animal Medical Surgical Center, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising technical staff, ensuring quality veterinary care, and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Support veterinarians in delivering high-quality patient care, advocating for pets, and educating clients.
- Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Participate in surgeries and procedures in accordance with state veterinary practice acts.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as an emergency veterinary technician.
- Certified Veterinary Technician is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong technical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution).
- Ethical (diplomatic, courteous, professional).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals.
- Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals.
- Proficient in anesthesia and monitoring responses.
- Collect laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, or tissue, for testing.
- Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts.
- Perform radiographic imaging and other diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
- Administer medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian.
- Collect and record patients' case histories.
- Provide surgical assistance and post-operative care.
