As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for championing a safety culture with a zero-incident mentality, building management and colleague commitment, and providing training on new regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and manage safety programs, including incident investigation, compliance, rules, permits, ergonomics, health and hygiene control, group communications, emergency preparedness, engineering controls, environmental, and contractors.
- Conduct Regular Safety Audits: Identify and evaluate hazards in the workplace, recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risk, and ensure training and documentation are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with Departments: Support workers' compensation cases, follow HIPAA laws, and maintain safety awareness and consistency of safety program implementation by management personnel.
- Manage Workers' Compensation Claims: Manage workers' compensation claims, OSHA reporting, and maintain all OSHA logs.
- Investigate Incidents and Near Misses: Support all incident and near miss investigations to uncover root cause and track completion of corrective actions.
- Stay Current on Regulations: Stay current on Federal and State Safety and Food Security regulations likely to affect the company.
- Analyze Work Environments: Analyze work environments and site standards as a basis for action required to improve conditions and meet Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Facilitate Safety Meetings: Facilitate safety meetings, review injury statistics and corrective actions, communicate department safety performance, and advise Team Members on how to minimize or ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace.
- Manage Emergency Procedures: Manage emergency procedures, such as fire alarm drills, and organize emergency teams, such as fire marshals and first aiders.
- Review and Update Policies: Review current PPE and make suggestions for improvements, review Safety Policies annually, and coordinate Safety Campaigns Monthly.
- Provide Updates: Provide weekly updates to the VP of Operations and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and understanding of a multitude of health and safety regulations and policies, with the ability to communicate the requirements effectively and assist the facility with implementation and management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Office 365 products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) as well as web-based programs.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong leadership, training, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all functions within the plant and develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels.
- Education and Experience: Experienced EHS Manager with 3-5 years of progressive responsibilities in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent training such as Safety Trained Supervisor certification, and must have successfully completed 30-hour OSHA training.
- Office and Manufacturing Setting: Office and manufacturing setting, with occasional requirement to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist.
- Lifting and Climbing: Occasional lift up to 30 pounds and infrequently lift up to 50 pounds, with the ability to climb stairs and ladders of various heights.
- Flexibility: Flexibility to work different shifts and days for two manufacturing sites, warehouses, and candy shop when required, as well as take phone calls or come into work after regular work hours.
