Job Title: Coder

Job Summary:

The Coder will be responsible for analyzing medical records, coding diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring accurate and timely billing for the Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze medical records for completeness and accuracy
  • Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
  • Sequence and code medical information for electronic billing systems
  • Attend annual compliance training and complete required CEUs
  • Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines
  • Generate fee tickets and track lost tickets
  • Code EKGs, Holter Monitors, Treadmills, and Tilt Table
  • Code Anesthesia for billing
  • Review billing denials and ensure accurate patient relations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification through AAPC
  • 1 year of coding experience preferred
  • Must pass KBI, DCF child & adult abuse registry, motor vehicle screen, and background checks
  • Must have reliable and insured transportation

Working Conditions:

Full-time or part-time position available. Hourly wage. Non-exempt employment status.
