Emergency Department Excellence

The Emergency Department at Atrium Health Cabarrus is equipped to deliver high-quality medical attention to patients and their families. Our interdisciplinary team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and various support staff, ensuring a holistic approach to emergency care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Part-time position requiring 16 hours per week with additional on-call responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to meet strategic objectives and enhance patient outcomes.
  • Guide the team in delivering evidence-based healthcare services.
  • Engage with medical professionals, victim support advocates, law enforcement, and community organizations.
  • Conduct medical forensic examinations for both adults and children.
  • Ensure proper evidence collection while maintaining the integrity of the chain of custody.

Qualifications:

Completion of SANE training is essential, with SANE-A and/or SANE-P certifications preferred but not mandatory.

Job Summary

This role involves overseeing, developing, and coordinating clinical, educational, and financial aspects of the forensic nursing program to ensure high standards of care and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the clinical care of patients involved in the forensic program, including research and educational initiatives.
  • Exhibit the necessary knowledge and skills to cater to the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Understand growth and development principles to assess and address patient needs accurately.
  • Facilitate continuity of care through effective clinical pathways and tools.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team to support the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
  • Lead interdisciplinary care conferences to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement educational resources.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to engage in prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Requires manual dexterity and sensory acuity. Mobility within the healthcare system is necessary.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. A valid North Carolina RN license is mandatory, along with a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Experience in program management is advantageous, with five years of nursing experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
