Overview:
The Clinical Practice Lead/RN is a licensed professional nurse in the State of Maine, responsible for providing clinical leadership to the support staff within their assigned practice areas. The role includes delivering direct patient care within the RN scope of practice to ensure clinical proficiency, as determined by the needs of the practice. The RN will exemplify professional standards to the clinical team, employing effective communication and adhering to Northern Light Health's Standards of Behavior and policies, while ensuring safe, competent, and compassionate care for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit knowledge and proficiency in nursing care tailored to the patient demographics served by the designated practice areas.
- Oversee clinical and administrative functions, including staff scheduling, orientation, education, development of tailored clinical action plans, and coaching, under the direction of the Clinical Services Director.
- Assist the practice manager with recruitment, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Lead the development, execution, and assessment of clinical Performance Improvement initiatives relevant to the practice.
- Participate actively in the Policy and Procedure committee, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the clinical setting meets JCAHO and state regulations.
- Identify educational needs for clinical support staff and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to mandatory training and attend scheduled meetings as required.
- Model commitment to Northern Light Health's Mission, Vision, and Service Excellence.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors, addressing safety violations and reporting incidents promptly.
- Communicate regularly with management to ensure optimal operation of the practice.
- Engage with clinical support staff daily to promote effective communication and education, ensuring proper maintenance of the clinical environment.
- Perform additional clinical duties as assigned within the RN scope of practice.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Current unencumbered Maine State RN license.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience required, with a preference for experience in an ambulatory setting.
CERTIFICATIONS: BLS certification required within the first week of employment; CPR certification must be maintained throughout employment. ACLS may be required based on practice needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role requires a light level of physical effort, including sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Involves working beyond regular hours and potential exposure to moderate noise levels.
