About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent analytical abilities, and a deep understanding of financial principles. They will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing processes, inventory accounting, accounts payable and receivable, internal controls, team leadership, and system improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS) in financial reporting.
  2. Month-End & Year-End Closing: Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and reconciled. Review general ledger entries and journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Inventory Accounting: Oversee inventory management and accounting, ensuring accurate valuation of inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS). Collaborate with operations and merchandising teams to monitor inventory levels, margins, and turnover rates.
  4. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accurate recording of transactions. Monitor and manage vendor and customer payments, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
  5. Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Conduct regular audits of financial transactions and internal processes to detect and prevent errors or fraud.
  6. Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and professional growth. Allocate resources effectively to ensure all accounting functions are carried out efficiently and within deadlines.
  7. System & Process Improvement: Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors. Implement and optimize accounting software and tools, ensuring the team uses the most effective systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role, preferably within the retail or consumer goods industry.
  • Strong experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and retail financials.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
Salary and Benefits
