POSITION SUMMARY & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The primary objective of this role is to execute maintenance and construction tasks on transmission lines, alongside conducting inspections and general upkeep of substation facilities. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Successful applicants will demonstrate potential for advancement in the Service Technician Training program through an aptitude assessment and a structured behavioral interview. Candidates should be physically capable of climbing transmission structures and performing tasks at elevated heights, with the ability to demonstrate climbing proficiency during the probationary period. Additionally, candidates must be eligible for PowerSouth's switching list within a specified timeframe and hold a valid driver's license. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within a designated period of employment, with candidates required to be at least 21 years of age to acquire a CDL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in executing all aspects of routine maintenance and repairs on transmission line infrastructure, including climbing transmission structures.
• Operate heavy machinery such as road tractors, digger derricks, and bucket trucks competently to fulfill work assignments.
• Conduct inspections of line facilities to identify abnormalities and report necessary maintenance actions.
• Perform inspections and general upkeep on substations and related equipment.
• Manage general maintenance of transmission line rights of way, including the removal of hazardous trees, brush clearing, and tree trimming.
• Contribute to the success of PowerSouth by fostering teamwork, aligning group goals and objectives, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the department and across the organization.
