Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team. This role involves performing advanced mechanical tasks related to the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of both diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Automotive Technician, your duties will include:
- Conducting routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic assessments on a variety of vehicles including trucks, cars, and heavy machinery.
- Executing servicing tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake adjustments, and tire replacements.
- Utilizing standard shop tools and equipment to carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
- Diagnosing mechanical issues with the aid of electronic and mechanical testing devices.
- Repairing engines by removing and replacing defective components.
- Fabricating and welding parts as necessary to ensure equipment functionality.
- Inspecting and maintaining hydraulic systems, air compressors, and other specialized equipment.
Additional Duties:
In addition to the primary responsibilities, you will:
- Drive to various locations to perform on-site repairs.
- Test drive vehicles to assess repair needs.
- Assist in managing parts inventory and procurement of necessary supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of all services performed and parts used.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the repair shop.
- Engage with colleagues across departments to coordinate equipment inspections and repairs.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of formal training in automotive technology.
- A minimum of four years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with gasoline or diesel equipment.
- Preferred completion of trade school and relevant mechanical certification.
Licenses and Certifications:
Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain additional certifications as needed.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a shop environment with potential exposure to various mechanical and electrical hazards. Physical demands include lifting heavy equipment and performing tasks in confined spaces.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates should be capable of performing manual labor and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Vision Requirements:
Ability to see clearly for the purpose of diagnosing and executing mechanical repairs.
Hazard Awareness:
Work may involve exposure to corrosive substances and exhaust fumes.
