Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team at UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus. As a Clinical Nurse II, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  1. Education and Professional Development

Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others. Attend education programs based on identified learning needs and utilize patient education materials relevant to patient population.

Evaluation of Care

Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participate in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.

Implementation

Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care. Perform bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plan and utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures in delivery of care.

Leadership

Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations and achieve goals and objectives within identified time frame or renegotiate with supervisor. Participate in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities and effectively use communication systems.

Patient Assessment

Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and include appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Synthesize assessment data into meaningful whole prior to communication to others and assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families.

Planning

Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care and make use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care and demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.

Research

Read journals that contain studies or articles that may be applicable to practice and bring ideas and questions to the staff at large for assessment of applicability.

Requirements

Education Requirements:

Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

One (1) year of relevant and current experience required.
