Job OverviewThis role requires a deep understanding of our mission and a commitment to promoting progressive principles, inclusivity, diversity, and social justice. As a member of the Board of Directors, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities- Determine the organization's mission and purpose by creating and reviewing a statement that articulates the goals, means, and primary constituents served.
- Select the chief executive by reaching a consensus on their responsibilities and undertaking a careful search for the most qualified individual.
- Support and evaluate the chief executive to ensure they have the moral and professional support needed to be successful in the position.
- Ensure effective planning by actively participating in an overall planning process and assisting in implementing and monitoring the goals.
- Monitor and help strengthen programs and services by determining which ones are consistent with the organization's mission and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Ensure adequate financial resources by securing funding through personal asks, events, and other activities.
- Protect assets and provide proper financial oversight by developing the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place.
- Build and maintain a competent board by articulating prerequisites for candidates, orienting new members, and periodically evaluating the board's performance.
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity by adhering to legal standards and ethical norms.
- Enhance the organization's public standing by serving as an ambassador and clearly articulating the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public.
