Job Overview

United Airlines is seeking a skilled developer to join our Digital Technology team in Chicago, IL. As a primary developer for our passenger simulation application, you will work closely with business teams to brainstorm ideas and test new Revenue Management strategies using the passenger simulator. Your expertise in Airline Revenue Management, including passenger forecasting, modeling, and optimization, will be essential in updating the codebase of the passenger simulation application.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and business partners to understand and implement complex algorithms and run Revenue Management simulations
  • Strong quantitative reasoning abilities
  • Strong capability to translate mathematical concepts into code
  • Highly motivated developers who can work independently to develop the application
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex workflows
  • Effective communicator, eager to ask questions and learn new things
  • Willing to innovate, challenge existing methods, and identify improvements
  • Knowledgeable about new technologies (Ex: Gen-Ai, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in object-oriented design, software application design, development, installation, and modification
  • Experienced in C++; proficient with Python and/or Julia
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithm development, working knowledge within the application and databases
  • Experience with validation of simulation performance - quality and time; and large-scale system modeling and handling
  • Strong mathematical skills including probability and statistics, simulation, random numbers, distribution, experiment design, and optimization (preferred)
  • Experienced and hands-on understanding of System Design Principles
  • Strong understanding of source code control tools (Gitlab) and branching model
  • Nice to have experience with AWS including AI-based recommendation models
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship
