Clinical Respiratory Therapist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide comprehensive evaluation and care for patients requiring respiratory therapy. This role involves administering prescribed therapeutic services to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role and are not exhaustive:
- Conduct both basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for patients across all age groups, as directed by the physician.
- Ensure the functionality of Respiratory Care equipment through assembly, troubleshooting, and quality control measures.
- Manage mechanical ventilation for patients of varying ages, including initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient care and treatment plans.
- Assist in educating patients and their families about respiratory health and treatment options.
- Participate actively in quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement activities within the department.
- Perform diagnostic procedures as required, adhering to physician orders.
- Maintain professional competency and comply with established standards of practice.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Eligibility for registry with the National Board for Respiratory Care, with completion of registered requirements within one year of employment.
- Licensure as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR) or equivalent in the applicable state.
- Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NRP may be required based on specific departmental needs.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to lift or move up to 40 pounds. The work environment necessitates awareness of infection control practices and the maintenance of a safe patient care environment.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The ability to multitask, solve problems, and make informed decisions is crucial in this role.
