Machine Shop Fabricator

Bradken Inc is seeking a skilled Machine Shop Welder to support plant production within the Machine Shop. The ideal candidate will have experience with welding repair, surface defect removal, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Weld repair steel and stainless-steel castings utilizing FCAW, SMAW processes.
- Utilize grinders and air-powered chisels to remove minor surface defects on the castings.
- Utilize Carbon Arc gouging to remove excess stock, cut out defects, and level riser burn cuts.
- Keep work area clean and alert supervisor of any safety or quality issues.
- Alert supervisor of any maintenance issues and recommend process improvements.
- Participate in special activities, projects, and programs to support Bradken safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Occasionally lift 60 lbs. (role of welding wire).
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must pass practical welding tests within 90 days of hire.
- 1-2 years welding experience preferred.
- FCAW Certification preferred.
- Operation of various grinders, electric, and pneumatic preferred.
- Operation and usage of cutting torch preferred.
- Operation and usage of Carbon Arc (Arc Air) for removal of defects and dressing preferred.
- Operation of bridge cranes preferred.
- Safety-minded first and foremost.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to read Welder Specification Procedures (WSP), interpret work instructions.
- Ability to weld in 1G, 2G, and 3G positions.
- Ability to document work on daily Labor Tickets.
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
