Job Description

The primary function of this position is to assist the Director of Operations in a kitchen facility, developing and preparing menus and large quantities of food items daily, adhering to CACFP Standards and Guidelines. The major objective is to maintain a smooth-running Food Service Department, allowing the director to focus on food nutrients and menu planning.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Operations
  • Food Preparation
  • Food Purchasing
  • Verifying portion sizes daily
  • Ensuring proper labeling and storage of foods and supplies weekly
  • Overseeing and assisting in food preparation in large quantities daily

Oversight of Sanitation:

  • Ensuring cleaning of dishes and kitchen equipment daily
  • Ensuring cleaning of child seating and eating areas
  • Ensuring proper food preparation with safe handling daily
  • Following OSHA and Serve Safe standards and company policies daily

Cooking & Serving:

  • Preparing food by adhering to nutrition and presentation standards, and preparation procedures daily
  • Ensuring food quality daily
  • Setting up of eating area and serving food daily
  • Correct and consistent portioning of servings daily
  • Ensuring guests are being served with superior service daily
