Job Description

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking a skilled Service Writer to join our team. As a Service Writer, you will be responsible for scheduling service work, establishing written service estimates, and providing ongoing communication with customers on the status of repair orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and provide best-in-class customer service.
  • Interview customers to understand the nature of their complaints.
  • Inspect vehicles, take pictures, and create ASIST cases and repair orders.
  • Schedule service appointments with the Shop Foreman.
  • Prepare written estimates for parts and labor, and provide accurate timeframes for completion.
  • Educate customers on manufacturer-recommended maintenance.
  • Track service work, update the dispatch system, and provide timely follow-up to customers.
  • Explain service work and related charges to customers.
  • Review completed work with the Shop Foreman and back parts counter personnel.
  • Process repair orders and handle customer payments.
  • Test drive vehicles with customers, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years' experience in the heavy duty truck industry, with a working knowledge of parts and services.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to understand financial information related to dealership operations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with college or technical training preferred.
  • Valid CDL license is preferred.
