Position Summary:
The Aircraft Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for evaluating aircraft and providing inspection direction on all facets of aircraft maintenance. This role involves identifying equipment issues on the shop floor before the final return to service and offering training and guidance to inspection personnel on innovative techniques and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Chief Inspector to guarantee high-quality inspection and maintenance of aircraft, components, and accessories.
- Documents daily activities, challenges, and concerns to the Chief Inspector.
- Performs comprehensive inspections of aircraft repairs and modifications throughout the facility prior to airworthiness certification.
- Ensures repair compliance with manufacturer and FAA standards.
- Verifies that repairs conform to the latest technical documentation.
- Completes various inspections as outlined in the 145 Repair Station manual and updates inspectors and technicians accordingly.
- Closely monitors critical operations to ensure successful outcomes.
- Informs technicians and inspectors about new processes, regulations, and changes that impact their work.
- Acts as a liaison for manufacturer communications to facilitate timely technical data exchange.
- Interprets manufacturer and FAA data using service documentation, manuals, and directives.
- Reports technical and personnel issues to the Chief Inspector and Floor Supervisor for resolution.
- Participates in investigations to determine root causes of faults.
- Provides on-the-job training for less experienced technicians and inspectors.
- Serves as a backup for aircraft work packages return to service during colleagues' absence.
- Contributes insights on manufacturer service documentation and FAA regulations.
- Aids in diagnosing aircraft and engine systems effectively.
- Fosters positive relationships with management, staff, and departments to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year Trade school or technical degree in aircraft mechanics or equivalent experience.
- A & P Mechanic certification is required; IA certification is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on aircraft mechanical inspection experience.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of FAA certification processes, repair procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in MS Office and quick to learn new software applications.
- Strong decision-making and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork abilities.
- Professionalism and initiative in achieving objectives.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Physical capability to perform various tasks related to aircraft maintenance.
- Basic tool ownership necessary for job functions.
- Compliance with federal drug testing regulations.
