We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Crime Defense Advocate to join our team at the State of Kansas. As a key member of our Public Defender's Office, you will play a vital role in upholding the constitutional promise of a zealous defense for our clients.

- This is a full-time, regular position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $96,468.75 per year. Note that salary may vary depending on education, experience, or qualifications.

Responsibilities:As a Senior Assistant Public Defender, you will handle all lower severity level and some higher severity level cases assigned to you with minimal supervision. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Effectively handling complex statutory, procedural, and constitutional issues with some assistance from other experienced attorneys.
- Providing limited mentoring, in-house training, and guidance to less experienced attorneys and defense staff.
- Advancing the ideals of a client-centered, holistic public defender system both internally within the agency and in interactions with outside legal system stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you must have a graduate degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be licensed as an attorney in good standing in the State of Kansas. You should also possess exceptional communication skills, be able to effectively communicate in written and oral form, and have a valid driver's license.
