Job Title: Detention Officer

Join the City of Frisco Police Department as a Detention Officer and play a vital role in maintaining public safety and ensuring the smooth operation of the detention facility.

Job Summary

As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for performing various duties related to the care and custody of prisoners, including booking procedures, monitoring prisoner behavior, and maintaining the security of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform booking procedures, including logging in of property, recording names, and conducting secondary searches.
  • Monitor prisoner behavior, including meals, medical emergencies, and visitor interactions.
  • Issue prisoner towels and personal hygiene articles.
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Provide security and monitor prisoners during arraignment proceedings.
  • Escort prisoners between areas and transfer them to other facilities as needed.
  • Conduct cell checks and monitor prisoner status and behavior.
  • Explain bail and bond-out options to prisoners and complete release forms.
  • Lock cell doors and take physical action to prevent escapes and assaults.
  • Facilitate prisoner visitations and assist with documentation.
  • Attend court proceedings and testify as needed.
  • Assist the public and departmental personnel with requests.
  • Stock office supplies and monitor detention center equipment.
  • Clean detention facilities.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must obtain certificate of completion of Basic Jailer training program within one year of employment.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, polygraph, psychological examination, physical agility test, criminal background check, and MVR check.
  • Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License.
Work Environment

The work environment is primarily medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Equipment and Tools Utilized

Proficiently operate all equipment in the Detention facility, including typewriter, video and audio equipment, computer terminal, multi-line telephone, photography equipment, cell door locks, personal alarms, two-way radio, intercom system, emergency breathing apparatus, food preparation equipment, calculator, laundry equipment, and other related equipment as required.
