Job Overview

This evolution has enabled us to offer a comprehensive range of high-resolution LIDAR sensors that provide exceptional imaging capabilities at significantly reduced costs.

We are currently seeking an experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development of our next-generation LIDAR systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in designing and analyzing opto-mechanical systems, along with practical experience in testing optical hardware. Given the diverse applications of LIDAR technology, our goal is to create products that excel in various thermal and vibration conditions. This role will involve rigorous opto-mechanical design, analysis, and testing, and will require collaboration with experts in mechanical, electrical, and testing disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the opto-mechanical design process from initial concept through to production for next-generation products.
  • Conduct opto-mechanical simulations to assess system performance across a broad spectrum of thermal and vibration environments.
  • Validate hardware through comprehensive testing, including the development of test plans and necessary equipment.
  • Create detailed optical and opto-mechanical component drawings adhering to GDT standards.
  • Implement tolerancing for optical and opto-mechanical components, ensuring alignment with acceptable fabrication tolerances.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure the fabrication and verification of high-precision optical and opto-mechanical components.
  • Work alongside the quality assurance team to guarantee that our products meet stringent automotive and industrial standards.
Basic Qualifications
  • Strong foundational knowledge in opto-mechanical engineering, with experience in athermal design considered advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with Zemax or equivalent optical simulation tools.
  • Skilled in tolerancing and creating mechanical drawings.
  • Background in designing bond joints and testing adhesives.
  • Hands-on experience with optical hardware.
  • Experience managing relationships with optical component vendors and design consultants.
  • Master's degree preferred in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with LIDAR systems.
  • Familiarity with optical systems intended for mass production.
  • Proficient in using FEA software such as ANSYS or similar.
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (Python, Matlab) for simulation and data analysis.
  • Experience with Structural, Thermal, Optical Performance (STOP) analysis.
  • Familiarity with optical alignment and metrology equipment.
  • Understanding of stress, thermal, shock vibration, and related reliability testing.
  • Knowledge of GDT standards and ISO 10110.
