Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting both clinical and operational functions within the assigned region. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities including data entry, billing, and IV technician tasks.
Key responsibilities include coordinating activities and potentially training data entry technicians to ensure precise drug entry, effective customer communication, and accurate billing at the point of service.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm, Every Other Weekend 9:00am-5:30pm
Core Responsibilities:
- Input data into the computer system for prescription fulfillment and reimbursement processing, leveraging knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medical terminology, and the metric system.
- Read and accurately input written prescriptions and medical information, including performing drug calculations and interpreting physician orders into the computerized medication order system.
- Conduct computer system operations which may involve order entry, billing, crediting, and updating medical records.
- Process daily orders, including new prescriptions and refills.
- Audit inputs against documentation and make necessary corrections.
- Generate reports as required.
- Identify and resolve claim denials by maintaining current knowledge of Medicaid regulations and processes.
- Participate in the orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Data Entry Technicians.
- May enter IV medication orders into the medication order system.
- Perform additional Pharmacy Technician duties as needed.
- Fulfill other assigned tasks.
- Conduct job responsibilities in alignment with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, policies and procedures, Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and professional standards.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; National PTCB Technician Certification preferred.
Minimum of one year experience in data entry within a long-term care pharmacy setting.
Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively within a team, and capability to recognize and identify patient medications.
Proficient in computer operations and detail-oriented tasks.
Knowledge of Medicaid claims regulations and processes is essential.
As required by state regulations, technician licensure or certification in relevant states is necessary.
Possess skills in communication, initiative, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and attention to detail.
