Lead Custodian

The Lead Custodian will be responsible for leading and utilizing custodial personnel to meet the needs of the facility, including trash removal, floor cleaning, general dusting and cleaning. This position will also set up the building for special events and for use by outside agencies or groups, and develop and promote good community relations among various community and school clientele.

1. Reports consistently for work as scheduled
2. Performs other duties as assigned
3. Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
4. Assists in cafeteria and other areas during the workday assignment as directed
5. Assists students and staff with items such as lockers, doors, desks, lights, etc. and performs minor repairs as needed
6. Assists students with locker combinations and locker combination changes and performs minor locker repairs when requested at the middle and high school buildings
7. Assists with safety drills, scenarios, and real-life situations as needed and directed
8. Attends training and in-service meetings
9. Cleans hazards, including bodily fluids, spills, etc. per best practices and current regulations
10. Cleans, dusts, and straightens desks; cleans counters, toilets, sinks, whiteboards, cove bases, blinds, walls, furniture, vents, windows, mirrors, carpet, floors, and other items as needed and assigned
11. Ensures facilities are safe and operational for students, staff, and the community
12. Monitors water, electrical, sewer, HVAC, etc. and assists in emergency shut off as needed
13. Moves, relocates, and transports materials, furniture, and equipment as needed and assigned
14. Mows lawns and trims and edges around walks and structures as directed
15. Performs any duties as assigned associated with building upkeep including painting, and other non-routine maintenance tasks
16. Performs crossing guard duties as directed
17. Performs duties associated with building upkeep, i.e., some painting, etc.
18. Processes and completes internal work requests
19. Promotes an efficient building by understanding and implementing sustainability management strategies as required
20. Removes and disposes of trash in facilities and on grounds
21. Removes snow and ice
22. Reports minor and major building and facility-related discrepancies or areas of need
23. Sanitizes rooms and facilities where applicable, including but not limited to restrooms, water fountains, gymnasiums, pools and locker rooms, etc.
24. Sets up for regular and special events as directed
25. Vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, strips, buffs, dusts, mops, etc. floors and stairs as needed

This position requires a high school graduate or equivalent and experience in a custodial service position. Preferred qualifications include experience in a custodial or supervisory position.

The compensation range is $19.85-20.84, with a scheduled weekly hours of 40 and hours per day of 8.0. Benefits eligibility is full-time - regular.
