Ultrasound Technician

The Ultrasound Technician delivers clinical services in accordance with ultrasound practice standards and serves as a resource for students, residents, fellows, and fellow technologists to ensure optimal departmental operations. Provides sound patient care practices aligned with hospital and departmental policies to guarantee patient safety. Completes additional tasks to promote efficient and consistent departmental functions. Upholds safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in departmental protocols and regulatory guidelines. Maintains equipment, examination rooms, and workspaces in a tidy and secure condition.

Hours: Varying days. 2 shifts of 10 hours each per week
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibits knowledge of appropriate sterile techniques and isolation precautions relevant to various specialty procedures.
- Identifies clinical and/or urgent issues that may affect examinations and takes necessary actions to resolve them, ensuring optimal outcomes.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of intravenous (IV) heparin locks and central line usage in relation to Sonography.
- Accurately identifies patients and their records, ensuring a high degree of precision. Detects errors and takes immediate corrective actions. Monitors patients in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Ensures proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patient-related equipment by adhering to established departmental policies to maintain the quality of care provided to patients.
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. ARRT, ARDMS, RDMS, or RVT registry eligible. Must be registry eligible and obtain certification within 18 months of hire.
- Recent experience in a hospital or healthcare setting as a sonographer or sonography student.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
